Italian Wines Guide 2026 - Gambero Rosso

Italian Wines Guide 2026 - Gambero Rosso

The wine journey of Swiss couple Adriana and Urs Burkard began in 2019 and follows two main paths: Arillo in Terrabianca, a winery located in the Additional Geographical Unit of Radda in Chianti, and Il Tesoro in Massa Marittima, in Maremma. The Chianti wines are generally well made and have a soberly modern style, focusing on balance and drinkability. The same approach is taken with the Maremma wines, which are obviously richer and more intense.

The Chianti Classico Sacello '22 has aromas of undergrowth and spices, with a rich fruitiness in the background. On the palate, it is subtle and beautifully dynamic, with very fine tannins and toasted notes in the long, engaging finish – awarded “3 bicchieri”.

The Maremma White '23  has aromas of white-fleshed fruits and balsamic touches, anticipating a savoury, well-balanced and calibrated palate with a crisp finish.

The Chianti Classico Poggio Croce Riserva 21 smells of ripe red fruit with constant toasted notes, and its flavour is influenced by a tannic texture that is not without ripples.
